Gutters for the older neighborhoods of Artesia

Artesia took shape around its school district, formed in 1875, and its name comes from the artesian wells that once flowed here and made the land good for farming. Grapes came first, then dairies run largely by Portuguese and Dutch families who arrived in the 1920s. After World War II developers pushed tract housing onto the pasture, the dairies moved away and Artesia incorporated on May 29, 1959. Today it is a compact 1.6 square miles, and Census estimates date 24 percent of its homes to the 1950s and another 24 percent to the 1960s.

The Brothers That Just Do Gutters Anaheim is owned by Sara Baayoun, and our Fountain Valley crew works all over Artesia, from Pioneer Boulevard to the quieter residential streets on either side. On Artesia houses we hand clean and flush, reseal joints and end caps, rehang sagging runs, form seamless gutters on site, replace worn fascia board and cap the run with BroGuard stainless micro-mesh. Houses here range from pre-1950 homes to 1960s tracts, so we size each gutter and downspout to the house in front of us, and every estimate is free and in writing.

Long Beach Daugherty Field, about five miles southwest, is the closest NOAA station with 1991 to 2020 normals, at 12.02 inches of rain a year; 8.06 inches of that, about two thirds, falls December through February. Census estimates show 71 percent of Artesia’s housing units are single-family homes and about half are owner-occupied. With NOAA’s Climate Prediction Center reporting an El Niño Advisory, a fall cleaning and downspout test are good timing this year.

Artesia Gutter Questions, Answered

How often should I clean gutters on my Artesia home?

Once a year for most homes, in October or November, since about two thirds of the year’s rain falls December through February. Houses with trees over the roof often need a spring visit too. Our maintenance program takes care of both.

Should I repair or replace the gutters on a 1950s Artesia house?

If the metal is sound and only a seam or two leaks, a repair is usually fine. If the gutter has been patched many times, sags between hangers or sits on soft fascia, replacing it with a seamless run costs less over time. We give you both prices in writing.

Why does my gutter overflow even when it is clean?

Often the run is too long for a single downspout, or the gutter has lost its pitch and water pools in the middle. On older Artesia homes we often add a second downspout and rehang the run at the right slope, which fixes the overflow without replacing the whole gutter.

Can you replace rotted fascia at the same time?

Yes. Our own crews replace fascia, and doing it with the gutter work is the efficient way, since the gutter has to come down anyway. We cut out the soft boards, install new ones and hang the gutter back on solid wood.

Is a strong El Niño expected this winter?

NOAA’s Climate Prediction Center expects a strong to very strong El Niño to last into early 2027, which raises the odds of a wet Southern California winter but does not guarantee it. The practical step is the same either way: clean the gutters and test every downspout before December.
