Quick answer

Gutter Styles in Anaheim and North Orange County, CA: The Brothers That Just Do Gutters Anaheim installs K-style and half-round seamless gutters matched to the house: K-style for the clean lines of ranch and tract homes, half-round where the gutter is part of the look, like a Craftsman or bungalow in Old Towne Orange. Call (714) 276-6631 or book online.

A gutter runs the full length of the house, so its shape shows. K-style, with its flat back and decorative front, is the profile on most North OC homes because it is strong and carries a lot of water. Half-round is the rounded trough you see on older and more traditional homes, chosen mainly for appearance.

Older bungalows and Craftsman homes around Old Towne Orange and Fullerton are where half-round, often in copper, earns its place. On a 1960s ranch in La Habra or Tustin, a K-style run in a color matched to the trim usually looks best. Ask your Solutionist which half-round options are available for your home.

Gutter styles in North OC

K-style or half-round, and the parts that finish the job

The profile sets the look. The hangers, downspouts and fittings decide how it holds up. Here is how each piece fits the homes we work on across North Orange County.

Most of the K-style we hang goes on ranch and tract homes from Anaheim to Westminster and on the two-story tracts of Buena Park and Cypress. Its flat back sits tight against the fascia, and the shaped front adds stiffness along a long eave while holding plenty of water. On a stucco house with simple trim, it simply looks right.

Half-round is about character. On a Craftsman in Old Towne Orange or an older Fullerton bungalow, the rounded trough echoes the house’s era, and paired with round downspouts it becomes part of the architecture. It hangs differently, too, which affects how it is installed and serviced.

Both profiles come in 5 and 6 inch, and both can be formed as a radius gutter to follow a curved wall, so the style choice never limits capacity or shape.

The fittings most people never notice

  • Gutter wedges fill the gap where the fascia is slanted or a molding sits behind the gutter, so the run hangs plumb.
  • Roof straps hook into the hanger and fasten to the roof on eaves with no fascia board at all.
  • End caps are crimped on and sealed so water cannot leave through the open end of a run.
  • Elbows carry each downspout from the gutter back to the wall, and turn the water away at the bottom so it does not drop at the foundation.
  • Conductor heads, in aluminum or copper, add style at the top of a downspout and hold surge water where a lot of roof drains to one point.

Older homes: what we find under the old gutters

If your gutters are more than about 10 years old, look at the front lip. A row of nail heads means a nail and ferrule system: a long nail driven through the front of the gutter, through a ferrule sleeve and the back, and into the fascia. It was the standard method 20 years ago, and it is the reason so many older North OC gutters sag. As the wood expands and contracts, the nails back out until the run lets go. We replace them with hidden hangers and check the board behind them, replacing soft wood through our fascia board service. That replacement is also the right time to change profile, whether that means half-round copper gutters on a Craftsman or K-style seamless gutters in a trim-matched colored aluminum. Our gutter sizes guide covers how big each run should be.

Why the Brothers

Why Anaheim Homeowners Call the Brothers

01An eye for the house

We look at the architecture before we talk profiles. A Craftsman bungalow and a tract home should not wear the same gutter.

02Details you cannot see

Hidden hangers and triple-sealed corners are what keep a good-looking gutter working for years.

03Solutionists, not salespeople

We tell you when standard K-style aluminum is the smart choice, even if half-round copper looks great in the photos.

04Part of a national brand

Founded in 1999 by brothers Ken and Ryan Parsons, locally owned here in North OC, and focused only on gutters.

Gutter Style Questions, Answered

What is the difference between K-style and half-round?

K-style has a flat back and a front shaped like a K, and it is the most common profile on homes and commercial buildings because it is strong and holds a lot of water. Half-round is a rounded trough picked mostly for appearance, so it counts as a specialty style. Both come in 5 and 6 inch.

Which style suits a Craftsman in Old Towne Orange or a ranch in Garden Grove?

Half-round, often in copper, suits the bungalows and Craftsman homes around Old Towne Orange and Fullerton, where the gutter is meant to be noticed. A 1950s or 1960s ranch in Garden Grove or Anaheim usually looks cleanest with K-style matched to the trim. We can show both against your actual roofline.

Can a gutter follow a curved wall?

Yes. K-style and half-round can both be formed as a radius gutter, which bends to follow a semicircular part of the house. That keeps water managed along the curve instead of leaving a gap in the system. Ask about it at your free estimate.

Which gutter hangers last longest?

We rely on the Quick Screw hidden hanger. The screw comes pre-started, a shaft around it adds strength, and a slight arch along the bottom stiffens it. It drives at an angle through the back of the gutter into the fascia. Old spike and ferrule systems work loose as the wood swells and shrinks, and cheap hidden hangers shorten a gutter’s life.

How do you keep corners from leaking?

Corners are a common leak point, so every corner is sealed in three places: along the manufacturer’s seam in the middle, on the inside where the runs overlap into it, and on top where they meet. Bay windows and angled walls get a bay miter so the runs join cleanly.

Are round downspouts better than rectangular ones?

For drainage, no. Both handle water and debris about the same, so it comes down to looks. Round corrugated downspouts are strong and pair well with copper half-round on an older home in Orange or Fullerton, while smooth round downspouts come only in copper and dent more easily.
